Matilda Aku Alomatu Osei-Agyeman has been a career diplomat serving at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration (MFARI) for over twenty-five (25) years and has held various positions at home and abroad, assisting in both bilateral and multilateral issues in respect of Ghana’s Foreign Policy.
Prior to her appointment as Ambassador, she was the Minister Plenipotentiary/Deputy Ambassador at the Embassy of the Republic of Ghana to the Italian Republic (2023–2024). She also served as the Director of the Europe Bureau (2021–2023) and as the first substantive Director of the newly created Candidatures Portfolio (2021) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana.
As Director for the Europe Bureau, Ambassador Osei-Agyeman provided overall direction, leadership and management of the Bureau’s functions and activities. She served as the primary adviser to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration on political, economic, social, climate, and security-related matters, ensuring strategic coordination with European countries and institutions.
In her role at the Candidatures Portfolio, she provided top-quality analysis and advice aimed at leveraging candidatures as a strategic tool in Ghana’s diplomacy. Within six (6) months, she spearheaded research, lobbying, and advocacy efforts that led to Ghana’s overwhelming election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (January 2022 – December 2023), securing the highest number of votes.
The Ambassador holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Master of Arts degree in International Affairs from the University of Ghana, Legon. She has also earned certificates in:

Ambassador Osei-Agyeman has two children, Amaris and Antonio Osei-Agyeman. Her hobbies include travelling and walking workouts.
